It’s not even unofficially fall yet, but still, winter is coming. If you focus on the winter handbags, that doesn’t seem like such an ominous promise, and thankfully, Dior is here today with its Winter 2016 handbag lookbook to remind us that cold weather isn’t all bad. After all, it brings with it new handbags to ogle.
Because this collection was one of the handful produced after Raf Simons’ departure and before Valentino’s Maria Grazia Chiuri was named the label’s new creative director, it mostly holds the line on the brand’s bags, with lots of new versions of some of Dior’s favorites, including the Lady Dior, Diorever and Diorama, plus a couple new bags–most notably, the Lily. Time for round 2 of my summer hallway ’17 reviews! This time I will be reviewing the Lady Dior tote I purchased. The Lady Dior bag a part of Dior’s timeless classics series, and I’m sure we can all agree that the history, structure, and appearance of this bag all certainly support this. Fun fact — do you know why the Lady Dior bag is called the Lady Dior bag? Well after doing some snooping I found out that it was named after none aside from Lady Di herself — a.k.a the late Princess of Wales, Diana. Therefore, if you’re already lucky enough to own one of those bags then now you know your luggage is steeped in a bit of royal history. And for people who were coveting the bag — in other words dying to get one — it merely gives you an extra reason to move this up in your wishlist!I myself can see why Princess Diana loved the bag. It’s a royal character for it and I believe it could make the least sophisticated of gals — myself included — seem a little more tasteful by wearing this look. When I decided to get the tote I obviously floated towards picking black myself so hey I figure Lady Di and I’ve got something in common when it comes to gravitating towards black accessories! Anyways jokes aside I decided to go for the Lady Dior in the original size in black lambskin (not the miniature or the large) with gold hardware. I adore the look of silver hardware onto a Lady Dior too, but for some reason felt the black actually popped out against the black and I fell in love with the appearance.
