Despite debuting a lineup of more reachable bags to win back old customers and signing on Cara Delevingne to do a high profile capsule collection and effort, Mulberry’s fortunes still haven’t turned around. Be cautious of anyone who wishes to blame this to international strife or changing travel patterns, even however; Mulberry’s only got itself to blame. In yesterday’s New York Times, Vanessa Friedman enumerated the issues in Mulberry that we’ve been discussing here for a short time. Regardless of the departure of catastrophic CEO Bruno Guillon, that came to the new from Hermès and, in his short tenure, jacked up all of its prices and alienated popular creative director Emma Hill to the verge of resignation, not much has changed. The company has yet to name a new permanent CEO or imaginative manager, although they do possess Cara Delevingne in their payroll. The issue with having Delevingne, though, is that so does everyone else, even from DKNY to Burberry into Chanel. Although her line and campaign with the brand have obtained a moderate quantity of press attention, reporters about the Delevingne conquer are spread pretty thin; without ponying up money for an exclusive, her mere existence has limited value to a brand that’s attempting to distinguish itself. Mulberry has a background of gambling on the wrong stars in the wrong ways, though; recall Lana Del Rey’s bag?
Mick Jagger’s daughter knows a thing or two about fashion, and we’re taking some mental notes this season! Next month, Mulberry will launch some fabulous fashion pieces that they’ve designed alongside Georgia May Jagger, the luxury house’s muse and poster girl for Brit rock ‘n’ roll. Of course, we’re not missing out on the fun – we’re also doing some insider work so we wouldn’t miss out on some juicy deets!
Georgia May is not the type of girl you should mess with, because she knows exactly what she wants when it comes to fashion pieces. With that in mind, she has teamed-up with the luxury house to create a biker jacket that’s truly a joy to wear. She herself has an extensive collection of such, which she has accumulated over the years from vintage stores and other luxe labels. The Mulberry Georgia May Jagger Biker Jacket is the one to beat – which is made from soft black lambskin leather, with a seriously sexy vintage appeal. Jewel-bright lining gives the piece a pop of color, which is truly Georgia’s style. You wouldn’t want to miss this!
